Diabetes cure : 21 diabetic diet and weight loss tips

  1. Drink at least 6 glasses of water every day.

  2. Keep a food diary with the following information: Time of day you ate, foods and amounts eaten, emotional state, and how you feel physically (i.e. tired, energetic, achy, sore etc.). Keep track of every bite of food you eat. In a recent scientific study, participants who kept a food diary lost weight and kept it off. The control group without food diaries did not keep the weight off.

  3. Exercise five (ideally 7) days per week at least ½ hour.

  4. Get a diabetic diet and weight loss buddy or group for daily check-ins – also get an exercise buddy to walk or do other types of exercise with, it will motivate you and keep you on track. Trade recipes and diet/nurture tips with your buddy. A recent study showed that people, who have someone to talk with regularly about diets and weight loss, lose more weight than those who don’t have a “diet buddy”. In addition, the people who had a chance to share their struggles and concerns with someone else, kept the weight off.

  5. Be sure to get lots of fiber in your diet from foods such as oatmeal and oat bran, raw and cooked vegetables, ground flax seed, apples.

  6. Chew your food slowly and carefully, preferably with your eyes closed, tasting every bite.

  7. Put your fork down between bites.

  8. Go on a diabetes friendly diet that avoids the empty calories found in sugar and refined carbohydrates.

  9. Make a point of doing several special nurturing things for yourself every day that don’t involve diets such as buying yourself some flowers, taking a special scented hot bath, watching a favorite video.

  10. Use a relaxation tape every day or meditate. Start with 10 minutes a day and build up to ½ hour per day.
